Room101 has put out a lot of good products in their time in the cigar industry. One of my favorite Room101 lines is Farce. Farce puts on a great display in the humidor, and never fails to satisfy. This review is going to be on one of their most frugal blends, The Doomsayer Aggressive.
The Doomsayer Aggressive has a very noticeable presentation. Like all cigars in the Farce line, it presents itself with the token flower. This one in particular uses the dark, more subtle black and gold color combination. Below the flower band, is the gold band with "DOOMSAYER" branded right on it. The cigar itself has that gorgeous maduro wrapper to intrigue you, and then keeps you hooked with the amazing flavor profile.
The Doomsayer Aggressive has a complex construction. The wrapper is a wonderfully medium brown maduro. The binder is Indonesian, and the fillers are Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Pennsylvania Broadleaf. A very full construction, which leads to a great medium to full-bodied smoke. The burn stays pretty even. Of course, this is subjective depending on the environment you smoke in and how you light the cigar. No major canoeing issues, and no tunneling issues, which will make the smoking experience smooth and easy. The ash can be a bit flakey, but will get to about one and a half to two inches in length before it drops. The draw is smooth, and on the looser side, allowing for a nice smoke, and the flavors to hit your palate with ease.
The flavor profile is a little complex, but not robust. Notes of dried fruit can be noticed at the beginning of the smoke, and can be smelled while toasting the foot. Notes of chocolate and cedar start to take over in the first third, and the notes of dried fruit take a step back and become more of an undertone. The second third will introduce notes of black and red pepper on top of the chocolate notes. Cedar and red pepper can be noticed a lot on the retrohale at this point. In the final third, chocolate and cedar notes come back to the forefront, while the notes of dried fruit, and red pepper are more noticeable in the retrohale. The cedar and black pepper notes stay put as undertones, and add to the overall smoke.
The price point on the Doomsayer is absolutely manageable. A single stick goes for around $7.50, while a box of 55 goes for about $412.50. Not a bad deal at all.
I definitely recommend this as an addition to your home humidor. This cigar is more geared to someone who has been smoking for a few years, but novice smokers should definitely give it a try if they are looking to expand their flavor palate.
