Rojas is a prime example of a fantastic boutique cigar company. From their excellent blends to their loyal followers, Rojas has definitely made a name for themselves. The cigar up for review today, Unfinished Business, is a perfect example of their tenacity to blend the best cigar possible.
The Unfinished Business has a simple, but elegant and eye catching appearance. The band is black with gold lettering, and a large "R" dead center. There is a thin accent band which displays the name of the cigar. The wrapper is medium-dark brown in color, and is smooth all around. No veins protrude from the wrapper, and is almost seamless.
The Unfinished Business is constructed with Nicaraguan and Mexican Fillers, Nicaraguan Binder, and Equadorian Sumatra Wrapper. The draw on the cigar is smooth and easy. Once lit, the burn starts off even, but does start to canoe a bit into the first third. The burn evens out after some touch ups, but the canoeing may be consistent throughout the smoke. The ash is gray and sturdy, and falls around the one inch mark. The foot doesn't flake after ashing.
The Unfinished Business's flavor profile is delightful. On the cold draw, you may get notes of dried fruit and earth. At first light, the most prominent notes are chocolate, earth, and mild caramel.
The first third may feature strong notes of caramel, earth, and light roast coffee. These notes are accompanied by undertones of chocolate and cream. The retrohale on the first third may feature notes of black pepper and graham cracker.
The second third may feature notes of caramel, cream, and chocolate. Milder notes of fruit, earth, and coffee may linger on the palate, along with a subtle nutty after taste, along with black pepper and ginger. The retrohale on the second third may feature notes of graham cracker and chocolate.
The final third of the cigar is a little more robust. Notes of dark chocolate and earth hit the palate first, with that nutty after taste lingering. You may also get milder notes of caramel, cream, and black pepper. The retrohale on the final third may feature graham cracker, chocolate, and caramel.
The Unfinished Business is priced at a great value. A single toro will cost around $10.50, while a box of 16 will may cost around $168.00. All in all, this is a great price for the cigar.
While the Unfinished Business is a bit on the medium-full bodied side, it can be enjoyed by any level of cigar smoker. Newer smokers will enjoy its smooth body, while intermediate and veteran smokers will appreciate its flavor profile.
