Rocky Patel has become one of the premier household names in the cigar community. His latest cigars have gotten amazing reviews, and are enjoyed by many cigar smokers around the world. One of his latest cigars, the Gold Label, has a deliciously complex flavor profile and unique construction. Read the review, and consider adding it to your rotation.
The Gold Label has an ornate and eye catching appearance. The band is gold and brown with white accents. There is a secondary band, which covers most of the cigar. The secondary band has an ornate design imprinted on it. The cigar itself is smooth to the touch, and has only a few veins showing.
The Gold Label is constructed with Nicaraguan Fillers from Jalapa and Esteli, Connecticut Broadleaf and Connecticut Shade Binders, and an Ecuadorian Habano Wrapper. The draw is smooth, even a little loose. If it was a bit tighter, it would just help with regulating smoke time but it doesn't have any effect of the flavor profile. The ash is light-medium gray, and relatively sturdy. The ash falls around the one and half inch mark. The foot may flake a bit after ashing, so keep an eye on that for your black shirts.
The flavor profile on this cigar is light and delicious. The cold draw ay have notes of milk chocolate, nutmeg, and dried fruit. At first light, the Gold Label may have notes of coffee, cream, and milk chocolate.
The first third of the cigar may have prominent notes of milk chocolate and coffee. These may accompanied by notes of caramel, graham cracker, and cream. There may also be subtle notes of white pepper and herbal notes. The retrohale of the first third may have notes of white pepper, light roast coffee, and hints of vanilla.
The second third of the cigar may have notes of milk chocolate and coffee, which stay pretty consistent throughout the smoke. Subtle notes of earth, almond, graham cracker, and cream. There is also a hint of white pepper. The retrohale of the second third may have an aroma of white pepper, cinnamon, and coffee.
The final third of the smoke may have the note of milk chocolate, along with a more prominent creaminess. There may be undertones of coffee, almond, caramel, and graham cracker. The notes of white pepper are not as prominent, but there is a subtle hint of cocoa powder. The retrohale of the final third may have notes of coffee and white pepper, with an aroma of pastries.
The Gold Label is priced very reasonably. A single cigar can go for around $13.00, while a box of 20 can go for around $260.00. The flavor profile alone is worth the cost. In fact, this cigar could be priced a dollar more or so, and still be perfectly priced. This is a great value for the flavor profile.
This cigar would be a great introduction for a newer cigar smoker trying to get into more medium bodied cigars. Intermediate and veteran smokers will enjoy the flavor profile and experience.
