What's Black, White, and Red all over? West Tampa Tobacco and the news.
Some news that could be important for the cigar industry and the community as a whole, comes from PCA and Drew Estate.
The Premium Cigar Association recently announced that they will be able to assist local (state) organizations with some grant money. This is huge because a lot of states across the country are struggling to fight for their rights to smoke and relax. This grant program from PCA will help some organizations with funding for lawyers, court costs, and other necessary costs to help fight for the people's right to smoke their cigars. While the PCA has been helping big time on the federal level, their ability to help on the state level will be a tremendous help for those looking to keep smoking in their own states.
A lot of issues on the docket with state governments and cigars is mainly taxes. However, some states are trying to take away the ability to smoke in public structures all together, including cigar lounged. Yeah, tell me how that makes sense. PCA's ability and willingness to help on the smaller level is huge for these battles.
In other news, Drew Estate announced that there will be an increasing across the board on all their products, starting in 2024. This increase, approximately 4.5 percent, will impact all brands under the Drew Estate umbrella. While for some this may not be a big issue, for others this could make or break what they smoke. While 4.5 percent doesn't sound like a lot, it can add up depending on how many Drew Estate cigars you purchase at any given time. Just something to keep in mind.
