Drew Estate is arguably one of the most well-known cigar companies of our time. Between their unique blends, social media presence, vast selection of cigars, and swag events, this isn't surprising in the least. Recently, Drew Estate released the Undercrown 10 to celebrate ten years of the Undercrown line.
The UC 10 had a great presentation, which is part of the Drew Estate charm. The band is a modified version of the UC Maduro band, along with a foot band. The San Andreas wrapper gives the cigar a beautiful, dark brown presentation, hinting at the notes of chocolate and coffee in the smoke.
The construction on this cigar is very well done. Naturally, there may be one or two cigars in a box that are a little off. The UC 10 is constructed with Nicaraguan long fillers, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and a beautiful San Andreas wrapper. The burn is even throughout the smoke, allowing for an easy experience without needing to touch up the cigar. The draw is smooth and easy, as well. It's no struggle to smoke this cigar, which has not been an issue with Undercrowns in the past. The ash can be flaky at times, and will fall off after about an inch or so.
The real joy in this cigar is the flavor profile. Wonderful notes of dark chocolate and coffee are prominent throughout the smoke. You could consider it to taste like a Mexican hot chocolate, due to the wrapper. Undertones of honey, oak, and pepper are scattered throughout, giving some diversity to the cigar.
The price point is also appealing. The UC 10 Toro can go for around $12, while a box of 20 can go for around $240. Between the flavor profile, construction, and appearance, this is definitely worth $12, and an absolute must to have in your humidor at home.
