Drew Estate has been making a huge impact on the cigar world, especially in recent years. Between their great blends, Barn Smoker events, and new cigar release methods, Drew Estate is easily one of the most sought after cigar brands on the market today. One of their latest releases, the Nica Rustica Adobe, has been the topic of conversation in recent months, and the subject of this review.

The Adobe is eye catching to say the least. It features a vibrant blue and black band, with subtle red accents. It's design is similar to the original Nica Rustica, with the crowned band, and matching footband. The box is also similar, featuring a black and blue box, and a mural of Esteli, Nicaragua on the inside of the lid with the same color scheme. The cigar itself is wrapped in a beautiful, medium brown wrapper. The wrapper is smooth and shows very few veins.

The Adobe is constructed wonderfully. It's made with Esteli and Jalapa Fillers, a Brazilian Binder, and a Habano Wrapper, which makes for a great blend, as you'll see below. The draw is smooth, allowing for a great bit of smoke with every draw. At around 2 draws a minute, this can easily last an hour or so. The ash is a crisp, sturdy white ash, which can get to about 2 inches long before an ashtray is needed. While the ash is sturdy, and gets to a decent length, it may have a tendency to flake now and then. Not a big deal, just make sure you're ready for it. The burn is even, for the most part. Some minor canoeing may occur, but it eventually evens itself out. Granted, this can be due to many factors, such as environment, how it's lit, etc.

The flavor profile on the Adobe is magnificent. It starts with notes of cocoa and cream, and black pepper on the retrohale. Soon after, mild notes of nuts and earth come into play, with a butter undertone that sticks around for a majority of the smoke. Notes of toast and cocoa can also become more prominent on the retrohale. The black pepper notes become more prominent a little further into the first third, while subtle notes of white pepper starts to creep in. The second third will feature stronger notes of black pepper, nuts, and toast. The cocoa and cream notes become more of an undertone, but still linger on the palate. At this point, the retrohale has strong nutty and black pepper flavors, and a butter aftertaste. The final third sees the cocoa and cream become more prominent again, with black pepper dulling down a bit. Notes of nut and toast can be smelled in the smoke and the retrohale. The Adobe finished with stronger notes of cocoa, cream, and a buttery undertone.

The Adobe comes in at a budget friendly price. One stick can go for about $5.76, and a box of 25 can go for around $144.00. For the flavor profile alone, this cigar could easily be worth $7.00. This is a great bang for your buck cigar, giving you no excuse to make this an everyday smoke.

While this cigar is a great bargain and has a great flavor profile, it's more suitable for an intermediate or veteran cigar smoker. Coming in at a medium-full body, it may be a little too much for a new cigar smoker.

GC Rating: 90
