Check out the review below, and consider adding the La Vereda to your home humidor.
The La Vereda has a regal and luxurious appearance. The band is black with gold and white accents. Featured on the band is a large, interconnected "LV" for La Vereda. The cigar also has a foot band with the same color motif, featuring the Crowned Heads logo. The cigar itself has a medium brown wrapper. The wrapper has some veins showing throughout. However, the cigar is wrapped seamlessly and is smooth to the touch.
The La Vereda is constructed with Nicaraguan and Dominican Fillers, Nicaraguan Jalapa Binder, and Nicaraguan Shade Grown Jalapa Wrapper. The cigar features a smooth draw. The ash is a light gray, almost white, and gets to about the two inch mark before falling. The foot does not flake after ashing, which keeps everbody's black shirts spotless. The burn starts off a little uneven, but does even itself out into the first third.
The flavor profile on the La Vereda is nothing short of decadent. The cold draw features a dried fruit and cocoa powder flavor, which gives a good teaser for the flavors to come. At first light, the cigar may feature notes of earth, white pepper, and walnut.
The first third may feature strong base notes of earth and white pepper. Subtle notes of baker's chocolate, walnut, and caramel linger on the palate, and accompany the base notes beautifully. The retrohale on the first third may feature notes of light roast coffee, cocoa powder, and mild black pepper.
The second third may feature base notes of white pepper and baker's chocolate. The are accompanied by undertones of walnut, cream, and earth. You may also experience very subtle notes of dry hay, brown sugar, and cinnamon. The retrohale on the second third may feature notes of cocoa powder, black pepper, and brown sugar.
The final third may feature notes of baker's chocolate and earth coming back to the forefront of the palate. Notes of white pepper linger in the background, along with notes of walnut, caramel, and very subtle notes of cinnamon and espresso. The retrohale on the final third may feature notes of cocoa powder and cinnamon.
The La Vereda finished with strong notes of baker's chocolate, earth, and white pepper, with subtler notes of caramel and walnut.
The La Vereda's price may be a little high for some. A single may go for around $19.60, while a box of 20 may go for around $392.00. While this is a bit of a high price, it's worth the flavor profile alone.
The construction and flavor profile are where this cigar shines. Its flavor has a very constant set of base notes, with a wonderful smattering of undertones and flavors that linger on the palate. The presentation on this cigar gives a foreshadowing of how premium the cigar is. This cigar is great for all levels of cigar smokers. Newer smokers will enjoy its flavor and smoking experience, while intermediate and veteran smokers will appreciate the complexity of the flavor profile and construction.
