Aganorsa Leaf has been putting out amazing, powerhouse cigars for years. From the Guardian of the Farm to the Siganture Selection. However, one of the best in their repertoire is the La Validicion series. The Connecticut La Validicion is arguable one of the best Connecticut cigars on the market, and brings a stronger flavor profile to a Connecticut cigar. With its medium body, complex flavor profile, and memorable smoking experience, the La Validacion Connecticut is must-add to your humidor at home. Check out the review below, and consider smoking the Aganorsa Leaf La Validacion Connecticut the next time you stop in you local brick and mortar.

To start, the La Validacion Connecticut has a very regal and elegant appearance. The band is the quintessential design you'd expect to see on a cigar. With the Aganorsa Leaf arm prominently displayed, and detailed ornaments, the band looks like something straight out of an old cigar box. Aganorsa Leaf added color coordination to their design for the La Validacion line, to differentiate the wrappers. The Connecticut sports a deep, sky blue, which shows prominently against the gold ornamentation. The wrapper is smooth, and shows very little veins, but does have some blemishing. While some may be turned off by this, it is a visual representation of the cigar's flavor profile.

The La Validacion Connecticut is constructed with a Nicaraguan Binder and Filler, and an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. After cutting the cap, the cold draw provided a tighter draw than one would like, but once light, everything opened up perfectly. The smoke started with an even burn, but did begin to canoe a little as the smoke went on. Nothing major, but enough to warrant a few touchups here and there. Be sure to smoke it slow, as smoking at a quicker pace can cause some mild tunneling, but nothing to really worry about. The ash is light gray and sturdy. You'll need to ash at around the two inch mark, and there are no flakes or flyways afterwards. While the cigar starts with a decent amount of smoke, the smoke level does dwindle a bit into the second third.

The flavor profile on the La Validacion Connecticut is nothing short of complex. It starts with a very mild creamy note, and black pepper retrohale. A mild nutty undertone comes into play, along with notes of coffee, earth, and salt. Well into the first third, you'll taste hisckory, cinnamon, mild molasses, and earth on the retrohale. Notes of vanilla come into play, but dissipate as quickly as they came in.

Milk chocolate and coffee take over the flavor profile into the second third, along with undertones of black pepper, cream, and cedar. Black pepper and earth stay prominent on the retrohale, with an aroma of cinnamon. As the smoke progresses, notes of molasses come to the forefront, and replace the chocolate notes. Flavors of salt, earth, and cedar will lead you into the final third. Black pepper becomes stronger, with molasses and coffee going to the background. That chocolate aroma creeps back in, along with hickory and earth.

The cigar finishes strong with notes of cinnamon, earth, and a nutty aftertaste.

The La Validacion Connecticut is priced perfectly. Coming in at around $8.99 per stick, and $134.85 for a box of 15, there is no excuse to not smoke this cigar. It's value on the flavor profile alone is worth adding it to your humidor at home, and enjoying it with your favorite cup of coffee. While most Connecticut cigars are paired wonderfully with a cup of coffee, this Connecticut pairs great with a glass of bourbon with little to no heat. I'd recommend a 85-90 proof bourbon, like Old Elk or Bird Dog.

GC Rating: 92
